Jimmy Eat World are back in the UK after a short stint in mainland Europe. Tonight the 02 Academy plays host to the band and a packed out audience.
Kicking things off is the only support band tonight, a four piece band from Reading, UK, called The Amazons. The preppy looking band’s indie infused tunes echoed throughout the venue and certainly impressed the crowd.
Now it is onto emo pioneers, Jimmy Eat World. The band from Arizona are flawless throughout. Frontman, Jim’s voice is incredible. The crowd, which is mainly made up of those who have grown up with the band and it is as if they are all re living their youth, go absolutely wild and they sing along to every word.
They have a killer set of 20+ plus. It is a set list with classics such as “Bleed America” and crowd favourite “The Middle” to the new songs from their latest release such as opening track “Get right”, “Through” and “Sure and Certain”.
Considering the set list was rather long, tonight did not feel as though it was dragging, it felt as though it went too quickly. The both bands were incredible throughout tonight. The crowd also had a good time, singing and dancing along. The performance Jimmy Eat World gave and the appreciation they have for everyone who turns up, plus the catchy music, you can see why they have lasted for so long.
