Apostle of Solitude is a four piece metal band from Indianapolis. They were formed in 2004 by former The Gates Of Slumber drummer Chuck Brown and the current line up consists of Corey Webb (drums), Chuck Brown (guitar/vox), Steve Janiak (guitar/vox), Mike Naish (bass). The band are set to release their fourth studio album, “From Gold to Ash” on the 23rd February.
The stand out tracks include the dark opening instrumental, “Overlord” which sets the tone for the rest of the album before kicking into “Ruination be thy name”. Things slow down when it comes to the melodic sounds of the beautifully performed instrumental “Autumn Moon”. “Keeping the Lighthouse” is perhaps one of the best tracks on the album. Then there is the longest track on the album “My heart is leaving here” and despite its 9+ minutes, the song actually flys by, which is a shame because it is a fantastic track.
Overall, From Gold to Ash is an album full of heavy guitars and melodic vocals. The instrumentalsshow off their bands musical abilities brilliantly and it is not a common occurance for a metal band to include instrumentals in their albums, it makes you truly appreciate their musical talents. Such an outstanding album.
